Yoga for Your Winter Health and Well-being

A list of what is included in the Yoga for Winter Resilience Course:

  • Over 20 hours of yoga classes, relaxation, meditation, breathing and general yoga tips. The course material is released in three parts over 12 weeks. Feedback from last year’s course was “shorter classes please”, I’ve listened! So you’ll have a variety of short guided practices to use to establish a daily practice. Plus some longer classes for you to try on those days when you have more time.
  • 8 live Zoom 45-min practice sessions with me On Wednesdays at 8:15 – 9:15pm GMT (15mins at the start to ask questions that come up for you and advice on adapting the practices). Recorded and uploaded in the course portal.
  • One In-Person Class (also live-streamed) to welcome everyone into the sangha! In North London venue TBA
  • 2 live Zoom Sessions with Natural Health practitioners giving simple advice for supporting your health holistically during the winter months. Q&A for live participants. Recorded and uploaded in the course portal.
  • 3 short .pdf guides on natural health on the following topics: nutrition, herbal medicine; energy techniques (EFT).
  • Practices are organised around moon phases. For each of the three sections of the course: Mind, Body and Spirit. In each section are practices based on REST (Restorative Yoga + Somatics), INTEND (Hatha Yoga), EXPRESS (Hatha + Scaravelli-Inspired Yoga) and TEND (Yoga + Somatics).
  • Short weekly emails with yogic health tips, the odd recipe, and encouragement to practice. You get these each Thursday at lunchtime. You’ll also get a reminder to attend the weekly Zoom.
  • A community of fellow students that you can connect with in the comments sections of lessons in the course portal that only course participants have access to. Share ideas, and support and cheer each other on through this unique and uplifting process.
  • 3 free passes to the weekly Zoom yoga and somatics classes on the Holistic Yoga timetable. Mon at 7:30pm and Tues at 6:30pm
  • Additional resources: also included books, recipes, articles and videos to further your understanding and knowledge of how to take care of your body, mind and energy and spirit during Winter.

Part 1: Early Winter (Week 1 – 4)

Create Calm &  Set Your Intentions

This time of year involves quite a lot of over-indulgence, stress and sitting down. In the first four weeks, we’ll look at how to calm the mind, set our intentions and gently ease out the stress and tension of the holiday season.
*** One Live Yoga Class on Friday 30th at 7pm – 8:30pm; Location in Crouch End, N8 TBA ***

Rest + Intend + Express + Tend
Calming the mind with grounding, focusing attention, stress-reducing asana and restorative practice.

Natural Health Fundamentals*
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)
Tessa Wolfe Advanced EFT Practitioner shares her tips and a guided EFT session
for setting intentions and creating new habits that support your well-being.

Part 2: Mid-Winter (Week 5 – 8)

Mobilise, Strengthen and Balance

Winter can create extra tension in muscles and achiness in the joints. Moving the body through a comfortable full range of motion creates freedom, balance and inner strength. This work helps to build confidence and alleviates joint and back pain.

Rest + Intend + Express + Tend
Creating steadiness and ease in the body with moving meditations, strengthening asana, opening the front body and finding flow.

Natural Health Fundamentals
Herbalist Sara Zanone on how to support your mind and body through the winter months

Part 3: Late Winter  (Week 9 – 12)

Connecting with Inspiration and Bliss

Yoga practice for our subtle body which includes the chakras, koshas and flow of prana (life force) within us.
Connect with your source of peace, joy and purpose in life.

Rest + Intend + Express + Tend
Settling our energies, creating clarity, exploring our potential and tending to our subtle bodies

Natural Health Fundamentals
A Live Sound Bath with Sound Healer Alistair Smith 17th of March 7pm – 8:30pm – Optional (not included in the price of the course)
A pre-recorded sound bath will be uploaded for those who can’t attend.

Super breadth and depth of knowledge

Julia creates a non-pressured learning enviornment which allows for a slow and steady practice that is inclusive and accessible. It was easy to use the online materials and the videos were of really high quality. It was good to be able to pick and choose the classes I liked and tailor the course to suit me. We had regular check-ins and Julia was really generous with her time and advice. The guest festaures gave me new knowledge and were interesting, there are so many tools in the box to build on!
