This is the sixth year of hosting retreats at Shaun and Polly’s lovely retreat centre. Their beautiful period home and rambling garden feel so calm and welcoming, you’ll find yourself relaxing as soon as you arrive.
With no need to worry about work, caring for others, battling traffic or even cooking for yourself, something rather special happens. You’ll realise that you’re releasing layers of bodily tension and your mind gets progressively clearer and calmer.
I team up with my partner Alistair Smith, a sound healer and composer, to offer a variety of yoga, somatic, meditation and sound bathing practices. These work together to refresh your mind, body and spirit. The weekends are ideal for experienced yoga student who’d like a more somatic approach. Or for enjoying with a friend or relative who is entirely new to yoga. You’ll both feel the benefits!

These retreats are ideal for everyone, those new to yoga or those who have a long term practice in movement. This makes them ideal for students who’d like to bring along someone (a relative or partner) who is a beginner or has a less regular practice. The focus is on healing, resting and rebalancing body and mind.

Tilton House is a beautiful period home, once owned by John Maynard Keynes, a world-renowned economist and member of the Bloomsbury Set. This group of artists and thinkers included Virginia Woolf and E.M. Foster. They resided in London, but often “retreated” to this area of Sussex to write, make art and enjoy the more relaxed pace of life. The home has an inspiring, yet laid-back feeling with a sense of space and privacy. You’ll discover the wonderful library and various other lovely spaces in which to rest and relax in between sessions. We’ll practice yoga in the yurt or, if it’s warm and sunny, outside on the lawn. Particularly in May, the soothing sound of birdsong is always in the background.

In between classes there is time to “just be” – an important part of any yoga retreat. There are numerous cosy spots in house or garden, in which to read, rest or enjoy a cup of tea. Other special treats include an outdoor sauna, a visiting massage therapist and sound healing treatments. If you are feeling more energetic, there are lovely walks in the area.

The chef at Tilton House is well known for creating delicious raw desserts, and healthy plant based meals. The cooking is vegetarian (mostly vegan), low GI and high protein. Previous students have found the food filling and delicious, even though many are not vegetarian. Herbal and normal teas, water and fresh fruit are freely available.

Prices Include:

  • Accommodation;
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner;

  • Use of the sauna,
  • All group yoga tuition (4 classes a day, including morning meditation; yoga nidra on Friday evening and a sound bath on Saturday evening).

All classes are included, but optional.

Note about Sharing
*this is a lovely mezzanine room, perfect for three people sharing. If you have missed the single room booking, it’s good to book a space in this room as the beds are arranged in such a way as to create a sense of privacy within the room.

Payment
Email jade@holisticyoga.co.uk to organise payment. You’ll pay half of the full price now as a deposit, which will hold your space on the retreat. The remainder is payable six weeks before the retreat. Please note your deposit is non-refundable but it is transferable to another person.

Booking and Payment
To book your place on the Gentle Yoga 3-Day Retreat, please email jade@holisticyoga.co.uk. She will send you the bank details and provide you with an invoice. Paying half the price of the retreat will save your place and is non re-fundable but is transferable to another person. The remainder of the price is payable six weeks before the retreat starts. 
Jade will be in contact by email, two weeks before the retreat to ask about your dietary requirements, whether you’d like your room made up as a double or a twin, additional treatment bookings and arrangements for taxi share from the Lewes station, if required. There is a medical form which you can fill in beforehand or on the day of arrival.
