Yoga Therapy in North London
If you’re wondering whether yoga therapy is right for you, feel free to get in touch via email. We can arrange a free 30-minute call to discuss your needs, explore what you’d like to focus on in our sessions and answer any questions you may have about Yoga Therapy.
Why Choose Yoga Therapy?
Many people seek yoga therapy to support both their physical and mental well-being. This specialised practice works holistically with the mind-body systems using the latest understandings in neuroscience to addressing imbalances and create coherence in the many layers of our embodied being. Yoga Therapy incorporates many tools to work with your unique body, breath, energy, thoughts, beliefs, and overall well-being.
Each session is tailored to your needs, helping you cultivate balance, steadiness, and ease. Often, addressing one aspect—such as breathing—can have a profound effect on other areas, like mental calm and clarity. Yoga Therapy is especially beneficial for conditions such as anxiety, depression, chronic pain, chronic illness, and stress-related issues.
I have a lot of experience in working with people with chronic back and joint pain by combining yoga therapy, neuroscientifically-based psychophysical education, Hanna Somatics and Anatomy in Motion.
Please note that if you have a diagnosed mental health condition, you are required to be working with a psychologist or psychotherapist alongside your yoga therapy sessions. Or I can refer you to an Integrated Yoga Psychotherapist who can guide you in using both modalities. Please email me, and I can advise.
A Personalised Approach to Yoga Therapy
Every individual is unique, and Yoga Therapy respects this by providing a highly personalised approach. Even if two people present with similar concerns, their sessions may look entirely different. We work together co-creatively to develop a practice that suits your lifestyle, health, mobility, energy levels, and personal goals.
Rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach, we explore various approaches to devise a yoga practice that truly supports your needs, preferences and goals. Your feedback—both in terms of how your body responds and what feels good to you—is an essential part of this process.
A Safe and Enjoyable Practice Tailored to Your Needs
One of Yoga Therapy’s key benefits is its adaptability. If you have limited mobility, use a wheelchair, or are managing a chronic condition, you can still practice yoga in a way that improves both your physical and mental well-being. If you find it difficult to get up and down from the floor or experience joint pain or back discomfort, I can tailor movements and breathing techniques to suit your specific needs.
You don’t have to have an existing yoga practice to benefit from yoga therapy. However, if you do then yoga therapy enables you to explore deeper aspects of yoga that you probably won’t learn in your standard gentle yoga class.
Beyond movement, Yoga Therapy also includes philosophy, breath, visualisation relaxation and meditation practices. These can be combined in different ways to enable you to regulate emotions, improve focus, settle over active thinking, enhance confidence, build resilience and soothe anxiety or restlessness.
